Priming a surface - as a sealer, consolidator or to aid bonding for another product.

Sizes - 500cc and 1000cc (1 litre)

Uses - Epoxy Primer should always be used before applying Mouldable Epoxy Putty onto smooth timber, planed timber, hardwoods, stone, brick, concrete or render. However, on rough or well dugout softwood timber it is not strictly required.

Ensure that ALL rotted wood is cut out completely. Filling over rot is a waste of money.

Usage rate - 1 litre of Epoxy Primer will cover 1 square metre at a thickness of 1mm, or about 6 square metres at a normal paint film thickness.

How much will I need

How much solution will I need for two light coats on rough sawn timber?

5 litres covers approximately 12.5 square metres, with 2 light coats

Click to go to the top index

Important Tips

Apply to bare wood only - will NOT penetrate paint, varnish, stain, wax or other water repellant coatings. This is the same for ALL Insecticides.

Check that water can be absorbed by testing the surfaces using drops of water. If any of the water is repelled do not apply the product.

Application to non-absorbing surfaces or over-application will result in white stains being left on the surface when dry.

Remove any liquid with a damp sponge from areas that cannot absorb water before the product dries - e.g. Painted skirting boards. Wear gloves.

Failure to wipe off painted surfaces may leave a hard to remove dirty marks caused by over-spray diluted dirt picked up from the floor.

To remove dried on product try hot water, vinegar or diluted Bleach.

DO NOT USE IN ANY BUILDING THAT HOUSES ANIMALS OR FISH, ASTHMATICS, BABIES OR PREGNANT WOMEN.

Spraying Floors

Spraying timbers for woodworm is best done to both sides of floorboards, as far as practical and to all exposed sides of joists.

The Trade usually removes every third or fourth floorboard for access.

On the ground floor clean all rubbish from the ground under the floor, clean the air bricks and check for damp (poke the joists with a screwdriver and look for dark coloured soil). Also check front, side and rear ground levels - they all should be at least 6 inches (150mm) below the original Damp Proof Course or the bottom of the air bricks, whichever is the lower.

Always pass the product Data Sheet to your chosen professional Applicator.
